Your Love Affair, with your Bed

Admit it. You have been spending much more time on your bed in recent times, especially with the extended circuit breaker measures. (Yes, i’m guilty as charged...) However, do you wake up feeling well rested and refreshed? Or do you usually wake up feeling lethargic, together with aches and pains?

It might be a good time to relook into your mattress, as we spend a large portion of our lives sleeping, and you usually have a legitimate love affair… With your bed, that is.

Here are some essential tips on what to look out for, considering you are selecting something you will spend at least 33% of your life on.

Tip #1: Lie on it!

It’s the simplest method to help you decide better.

Spend a minimum of 10 minutes on the mattress, and make sure you do not feel any pressure or pain. Hop around different retailers, to “test” them out! Try not to make a rushed and hurried decision, as a good mattress is worth every dollar.

Tip #2: Determine if you are a side/stomach/back sleeper

As a general rule of thumb, side sleepers usually need a softer mattress, stomach sleepers require a firm one, and back sleepers fall somewhere in between.

Individual pocketed springs have that familiar bouncy feel, and may be firmer. They also help to reduce the “ripple” effect when your partner moves around on the bed.

Soft foam mattresses support your body weight, and conform to your shape. They provide a lot of support, relieving pressure points on your neck and back.

Firmness and support are critical for back sleepers. Ideally, your mattress choice should provide enough softness to eliminate pressure points, and still have great support.

Tip #3: Your lifestyle!

Do you require additional storage? Or do you live your life “Marie Kondo” style? Or maybe you have a furry companion at home?

While working together with us, ask yourself these questions, and the answers will help us in deciding and recommending a suitable bed frame for you.

Storage beds are perfect hideouts for off-season clothes (usually winter clothes you have amassed from your last vacation to Norway or Alaska, or clothes you have binge bought during Zalora/ASOS sales).

If you have a furry companion, a lower-to-the-ground bed frame might be your choice, as they would be able to hop into your bed easily to snuggle with their hooman friends. Seeking the minimalist outlook?

Grab sleek frames, with low head-boards! These would match your theme, and Marie would definitely approve of your choice!

If you’re still undecided, fret not! We’re all here to help!
